What is Nurofen and what is it used for?
Nurofen 200mg tablets are used to treat:
Pain (mild to moderate)
- Headache and migraine
- Toothache
- Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea)
- Muscle and joint pain
- Back pain
- Neuralgia
Fever and flu symptoms
- To reduce fever during flu or cold
- Post-vaccination fever
If pain or fever lasts more than 3 days or new symptoms appear, consult a physician.
How to take it
- Adults & children 12+: 200-400 mg every 4-6 hours, max 1200 mg/day OTC
- With food to minimize stomach irritation
- Maximum 3 days for fever, 5 days for pain (without doctor)
Common side effects
- Stomach upset, nausea
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Dizziness
Stop and seek medical care if you experience: black stools, bloody vomit, severe rash, swelling of face or throat.
